Liability
Explains the personal and business liabilities of technicians and owners in the modern auto glass shop. It discusses the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and explains the ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS 003-2015 Replacement Standard in detail, providing for a better understanding of why the auto glass installation techniques used today are so important.
Terminology
Translates “autoglass speak” into language everyone can understand. Every trade has its own idiom to communicate instructions and ideas. Here we define the unusual words and phrases that are used in the auto glass field.
Safety First
Describes the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and procedures necessary to complete installations safely and efficiently. It covers the basics of hazard communications and OSHA requirements.
Auto Glass
Offers the latest information about glass manufacturing and fabrication as it pertains to the auto glass industry. All types of auto glass fabrication are displayed and discussed.
NAGS International
Explains how glass is identified and marked. NAGS® International is a publishing company that provides the industry with its own way of categorizing the glass parts we replace and repair.
Tools
Introduces the common and specialty tools used in our industry and describe their proper use and handling. The instructors will discuss the variables each tool brings to the job at hand.
Adhesives & Sealants
Demonstrates how adhesives work and why they are important to your customers’ ultimate safety. It explains the proper use of urethane and its supporting products.
Miscellaneous Parts
Covers the wide variety of blocks, sealants, clips, dams, and fasteners available to the auto glass professional. The instruction explains the role of these parts and how to remove them from the vehicle quickly and easily.
Installation
This module is “hands-on” and forms the core of our program. We show technicians the intricacies of proper auto glass installation through the Seven Steps of Installation. It covers the “dos” and “don’ts” of disassembly and installation, including clean up and safety procedures.
The installation of moveable auto glass is also covered in the hands-on portion. Moveable auto glass replacement requires mechanical aptitude and the ability to see a problem and determine the best course of action to solve that problem.
ADAS
Advanced Driver Assist Systems are the many sensors, cameras and scopes that make up the start of the autonomous vehicles of the future. They are a new challenge to the auto glass technician. Some of this special technology is attached to the auto glass and must be removed, reinstalled and recalibrated to original equipment specifications.
The industry is still translating the information supplied to the supporting industries. As a member of the ADAS committee of the Auto Glass Safety Council, tasked to filter out facts from myths, Bob Beranek supplies AGU with the most up-to-date information available to the industry.
Troubleshooting
Learn proper prevention, diagnosis and repair procedures for correcting installation problems. Special tools for problem diagnosis and their proper use are discussed and taught.
Windshield Repair
Hands-on practice doing windshield repairs. A successful windshield repair is 20% equipment and 80% technician skill. We discuss:
